"Never, in my wildest dreams did I think the day would get captured like that. You brought tears, smiles, and laughter to us. The work you produced is priceless. Thank you for the incredible value. ‘Value’ is an understatement." "You were our favorite part of our wedding because you were everywhere, yet nowhere… Funny, sad, poignant, silly, and beautiful moments on film. We enjoyed our wedding – but we relived it through your eyes; everything we missed you caught on tape. To say thank you will never be enough – to say you’re the best in the biz is a gross understatement." These are just two of the many rave reviews about this company.
While Kelly Priest was studying broadcasting in college, one of his teachers asked him to videotape his wedding. Through referrals, he continued to videotape weddings on weekends. After videotaping about 40, he realized how challenging and creative the work was. He opened a studio in Los Gatos in 1990, outgrew it, and moved to his current studio in San Jose in 1996. Kelly’s team of highly experienced videographers all match his style and creativity. In 2006 Kelly received the Telly Award for his work.
"Look for the truth. People should not be affected by my presence," states Kelly. Shooting from behind a pillar or with a camera tucked under his arm, he captures the chemistry between the bride and the groom in a most inconspicuous way. In working with Kelly, I appreciate the most respectful approach he has about capturing interviews. He sets a camera in an unobtrusive area so that guests and family feel welcomed to record any special wishes or comments.
Most of Dream Video Productions’ packages offer from seven hours to full event coverage. When I asked why so many hours, Kelly replied, "We take the point of view of a storyteller. The day just doesn’t start at the ceremony." My favorite is his "Picture Show," a montage of up to 90 photographs set to music. A captivating love story of pictures, music, and a "He Said/She Said" interview perfectly blended.
