The Silicon Valley Capital Club is located on the top floor of the 17-story Knight Ridder building, one of the tallest in downtown San Jose. This prestigious South Bay club opened its doors for business and social events in winter of 1990.

I have been to the club many times and love the peaceful and luxurious ambience that welcomes you as you step out of the elevator. The adjacent foyer, with its marble floors and plush carpets, and sporting comfortable furniture interspersed with tall plants or decorated with lush bouquets, provides an atmosphere of elegance. Tall, floor-to-ceiling windows extend over most of the walls and present a fabulous view of downtown San Jose and Silicon Valley. Depending on the size and purpose of your event, you can choose among the Library, the Alum Rock room, the Mount Hamilton and Quicksilver room, and the adjoining Pacific Rim South and North dining rooms that can be used as one.

The club is available on Sundays only by special arrangement. Wedding ceremonies take place in the Bay View Lounge with the city as backdrop. Depending on the season, the sizable terrace on the south side of the main dining room can be used for the cocktail hour. The reception is usually held in the main dining room. Several conference rooms of different sizes are available for a smaller ceremony, a bridal changing room, or babysitting. When you contract with the club for an evening event, the usual spectacular sunset is free of charge. Then the stars, the flickering lights of airplanes, and the twinkling street lights completely change the feel, giving focus to the wooden pillars, furniture and decoration.

During my last visit I met with Jenna and Lynn, both private event directors, who not only are trained by the club but also are members of the Association of Certified Professional Wedding Consultants, recognized nationwide for its high standards.

References comment about the upscale ambience, the wonderful view, the very congenial staff, the good food, and the ample parking.
