Ralston Hall is a registered National Historic Landmark and was built between 1864 and 1867. Of all the lavish summer homes built on the Peninsula in that period, it is the only one that remains much as it was at that time. It is fully furnished, primarily with furniture dating back to that period. The building formerly belonged to the country estate of William C. Ralston, a financier and founder of The Bank of California. Today, Ralston Hall is part of the College of Notre Dame and is one of the most elegant and beautiful places on the Peninsula.
After a long and careful renovation in 1999, it is now certainly one of the most beautiful mansions in the Bay Area. The stunning ballroom floor with its intricate patterns of different woods was replicated by master craftsmen. The edged wall mirrors were replaced and reflect the ballroom and its original sparkling chandeliers. Early or late in the day the sun shines through the windows and etched glass panels painting delicate patterns on the floor.
The first floor is available for corporate events, weddings, receptions, fund-raisers, photo shoots, and filming. The east wing includes the Ballroom, the Ballroom Annex and the Cipriani Parlor, while the west wing includes the formal Large Dining Room, Small Dining Room, Sun Parlor, Ralston Parlor, and Oriental Music Room. The attractive interior lends itself to many beautiful photo opportunities. In front of the hall is a large, oval garden with an idyllic fountain, providing many lovely spots for wedding ceremonies. Ralston Hall is a perfect site for weddings and receptions. As I watched the caterer set up for a reception inside, the guests were mingling in the garden after the ceremony. There, bathed in the rays of the late afternoon sun, they enjoyed champagne and hors d’œuvres.
Very experienced and helpful coordinators will attend to your event.
