"Stories are a way of passing down history," Wendy told me. There is so much truth in her statement! Browsing through Wendy's wedding albums, I see how the pictures clearly portray a storyline. The manner in which she observes what's going on reflects her personality: soft-spoken, quiet, and unobtrusive. Yet there is nothing missing from her photographs, which show the intensity and the intimacy of family celebrations. My favorite picture is the smiling bride and groom, unaware of the three small boys surrounding them. Just by looking at the boys you can tell how bored they are in their dark, new suits. The original fun and importance of getting dressed up is over; now it dawns on them: there is nothing to do!

While always willing to accommodate her clients' preferences, Wendy prefers using black and white photography for much of her wedding work. "It is timeless and more intimate," she tells me. "I like to focus on the expressions of the bride and groom as they gaze at each other. I like the play of light and shadow on a white dress, which takes the texture of lace and silk more visible. Color can distract from the feelings. However, colors in the food and flowers are important to allure your other senses."

We sat in Wendy's attractive living room while I listened to her story. She was born in Thailand, the second child of a world-traveling American family. She spent part of her youth in Latin America and Europe before the family returned to the East CoAST. After college, with a degree in sociology, she worked for the Ansel Adams Center For photography. Hired by a friend of a friend to capture her wedding, Wendy soon realized the possibilities of weaving art into event photography and creating timeless history. Her beautiful wedding work can be found in leading bridal magazines.

To balance her wedding work, Wendy covers celebrity visits and events, photo shoots and festivals such as the Concourse d' Elegance.
