“You finally did it,” was the response of an old school friend to Nick when, after running into her in England, he told her that he was now a wedding photographer. So many things had happened since he last saw her: his move to the U.S. to work in the fast-paced dot-com industry, his marriage, and the beginning of his photography business. It seemed like ages ago when being a full-time photographer was just his pipe dream.
Friends had urged Nick to shoot their wedding. "No pressure. If you don't do it, we just won't have a photographer,” they told him. These first wedding pictures were so successful that Nick kept the best shots in a little black book and displayed them at his wife’s boutique, Bella Bridesmaid. Within three months he had booked several clients.
"Wedding photography gives me so much satisfaction," Nick told me. "In one day you can photograph intimate portraits, beautiful landscapes, interesting products, documentaries, and high fashion." Nick describes his work as "free-flowing." I would add “relaxed” and “natural.” He makes it seem like a good friend is taking your photo, and you know that the outcome is going to be perfect.
Another of Nick's specialties is underwater photography. Before moving to the States, one of Nick’s many past lives was that of a dive instructor in the Cayman Islands, which is where he became keenly interested in diving and underwater photography. This expertise has taken him to destinations around the world to photograph weddings, including Belize, Turks and Caicos, Hawaii and Mexico.
