Encouraged by her art-loving family, Melissa started to pursue photography when she was just fourteen years old. She learned valuable techniques in a classroom environment and gained hands-on experience by assisting a wedding photographer for three years. Her instructors recognized her talent, and she also received her first of many photographic award at the young age of fifteen. Melissa finds inspiration in everything: old Hollywood photographs, paintings, museum art, and nature; however, her greatest passion is photographing people.

2005 marks Melissa's tenth year in business. She has learned to observe her clients carefully in order to find out when they feel most comfortable. The engagement session, prior to the wedding, gives her an even greater opportunity to connect on a closer level. Here she can easily determine the couple's comfort level in front of the camera and the approach that she should take on the wedding day. One month prior to the wedding, Melissa meets with the couple again and asks for the names of important family members and other relevant wedding details. Her clients appreciate Melissa's attention to detail and her unobtrusive approach.
