Rudi first held a camera when he was in third grade. He later became the primary photographer and editor-in-chief for his college yearbook. In 1988, he sold his first photo that was taken at the Democratic national debate between Dukakis and Jackson at Carnegie Mellon University. During his college years, Rudi took electives in photography, graphic design and printing technologies. He continued studying photography at the School of Visual Art in New York while working in information technology.

Years later he joined a Jewish-Buddhist Education Group and headed off to Dharamsala, India. The group’s mission was to support an educational program and help create a Passover Seder that welcomed Jewish travelers and local Tibetans. Rudi was asked to document this historical event. One of the couples participating in the event liked his pictures so much that they asked him to photograph their wedding.

Rudi's first job led to others. He loved wedding photography and really enjoyed reconnecting with his artistic talent. To refine his style, Rudi has studied with a number of nationally recognized artistic and journalistic wedding photographers, and became a member of Professional Photographers of the Greater Bay Area (PPGBA). He now serves on their Board of Directors.

"My favorite shots capture the moments that will bring back all the memories of that special day,” Rudi told me. “From my experience at my wedding, I know how to help the couples live that day more slowly and to treasure every moment." The formal photos are done quickly and efficiently so that the couple and their guests can enjoy the event. My favorites among Rudi's pictures are the candid shots and those showing the fun the guests are having during the reception. In one of them, at a wedding in Mexico, you can almost hear the toasts and laughing. Most of his work is displayed in coffee table books, which many couples prefer.

Rudi is working on becoming a Green Business. He use primarily recycled paper, offers a green album option, and drives a hybrid car.
