Brought up by environmentally-conscious parents in Vermont (They’ve had solar panels on their roof and a hydropower turbine as long as I can remember.") it is not surprising that Nelle chose the "green" career path.
With a degree in biological anthropology, she started with wellness coaching. Her desire to be creative and to make a difference in the world led her to consider becoming an organic wedding coordinator. She started out by enrolling in classes offered by such organizations as the Association of Certified Professional Wedding Consultants and the Association of Bridal Consultants.
Nelle is founding member and co–director of PAGE, Professional Association of Green Events, a new Bay Area local networking group. With all of Nelle’s special education, you can be assured your wedding will run smoothly, whether or not it’s green.
"You don't have to give up your dream wedding in order to include sustainable elements," she told me. "For one of my brides, a potter, we are looking into using small tiles to serve both as name cards and favors. It is fun to come up with creative alternatives that are eco-conscious, and there are many more choices now. You can register for sustainable china, glass and silverware; you can select tree-free paper that looks as pristine as regular paper; and encourage your guests to carpool."
ZahZoom's "Green Up Survey" helps clients decide how much sustainability they want to include in their celebration. As a green consultant Nelle has many green businesses at her finger tips and can combine them with traditional wedding resources.
Clients love the wonderful, professional job she did in planning and coordinating their weddings. "Responsible,” “resourceful,” “suggesting great event professionals,” “we enjoyed a carefree wedding day" were some of the comments I heard about Nelle. |
