Pat Gibbons is one of the long-time participants of Bouquets to Art.
This photo displayed here is her interpretation of " Woman with a viola Gamba" for which she designed a music stand made of branches, akebia, and black magic roses. The sheet music was created from skeletonized leaves and pansies.
Each spring the annual museum fundraiser, Bouquets to Art, is held at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco. Now, in its 21rst season, 20,000 visitors are expected to fill the halls during the week-long display from March 8 - 11/2005.
Starting out with 20 florists in 1984, this year 118 florists were invited. Each designer selects a sculpture or a painting for which he/she will create a floral interpretation. All florists donate their time, talent, material, and flowers to help with this fun and artistic endeavor.
I have participated at this fundraiser for the past 14 years. This year my design will be the interpretation of the painting Blue Hills and Crescent Moon by Lillian Miller.
For the public, there also is a week of lectures and demonstrations with designers from around the world. For Information see: www.bouquetstoart.org
