When I met Ron for the interview, he reminisced about his visit to a radio station as a young child. From that day on he wanted to become a DJ. Now, many years later, event professionals and clients alike rave about Ron's work and are impressed by his performance and professionalism. "As soon as we hired Ron, I knew I didn't have to worry about my wedding anymore," a bride told me. "He let us include his email address on our wedding website so our friends could send him their song requests before the wedding. Instead of the father/daughter dance, Ron orchestrated a trivia game because my father doesn't like to dance. He isn't inexpensive but this money was well spent." Ron told me later that he felt so sorry for the bride and her "non-dancing" father that he tried to find something that would create a special memory for both.

This single owner/operator, with a degree in television, radio, and film, understands the importance a face-to-face meeting with his clients. "I do care about my clients. I want to learn their preferences and why they make these choices before we can pre-plan and personalize the wedding," Ron told me. "A good DJ likes to get involved, and if there is no event coordinator, I will fall into that role. I will make sure that the food can be served when it is ready, and that the photographers and videographers are present when the cake is cut." His remote control enables him to lead the bride and groom onto the dance floor for the first dance and then immediately start the music. "Watching the crowd and playing the right music at the right time is a talent," he emphasized. His digital equipment makes it easy to access the next song within a matter of seconds.

Ron is an ardent music collector of rare records and recordings, and has a sizable collection of instrumental pop from the 50's and 60's (Lounge). He has an extensive music library that he constantly updates. Even off the job he is constantly on the lookout for better equipment. Recently, he found speakers with a new technology that can focus the sound directly onto the dance floor, thus not hindering conversation among the non-dancing guests. Just another way to show how much he cares.
